Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic
pain condition that may follow trauma such as a fracture or surgery.
It creates pain where no pain should be - normally striking after
the original injury has healed. Together with other symptoms it
can seriously affect the sufferer's life. Science has a lot to learn
about this condition... but patients have found that it can be beaten.
|
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) is the traditional
name for CRPS. The clinical name was changed because it was found
to be an inadequate medical description of the range of symptoms.
But it is always Complex, it does affect Regions of the body and
it always involves Pain... hence the new name.

Stories
The stories on this site have been contributed by
correspondents. Some express hope; some border on despair; some share
tips or gems of experience; all are sincere and shared for your benefit.
We publish individual stories and articles
from RSD patients, carers and healthcare professionals and a storyboard
with masses of shorter contributions. |
Information
We have collated information on Drugs,
on non-drug Treatments and on
questions that correspondents have raised.
You can also find Tips
that other RSD patients have discovered and want to share. If you
have information to share, please let us know. |
Help
Groups
The second most common problem for RSD sufferers (after
the pain) is loneliness... "Nobody understands how it feels"
- "My family and friends don't know what I'm going through"
Don't suffer alone. Join a support group (local or on-line) and feel
part of a caring, sharing community.
Our links page
features a wider selection of websites of interest to RSD and chronic
pain sufferers. |
