Massage Therapy

Question
Dear Louise. I have RSD and FMS also. Please tell me what to do for myself. Thanks. Maxine
Answer
My suggestion would be for the FMS moist heat along your spine. Take a moist towel, put it in the microwave for about 2 minutes, place in a zip lock bag, cover with a thin towel (to prevent from being burned). If you can get a therapeutic roll that can be placed in the microwave, they are quite beneficial also instead of the homemade one mentioned above.
After the area has been warmed, do gentle stretching... give yourself a hug and gently bring your chin to your chest and then move your neck side to side. If you know anyone who can teach you trigger point therapy or perform it on you, that is one technique that is very beneficial to FMS. Also, if you can find a "theracane" or a "backnobber" they are made specific for do-it-yourself trigger point therapy. A tennis ball will also work... just lean into it. As for the RSD, try the heat also. I'm not sure how your body will respond to it, but give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
If these ideas don't work, give me another shout... I'll keep doing research.
