Bupropion

Description
Generic name for Welbutrin. This medicine is an antidepressant used to treat depression. It may also be used to treat other conditions, including as an aid to stop smoking..
Side effects

(Don't be unduly alarmed. All drugs cause side effects for some patients)

May cause dizziness. If taken with other medicines, or with alcohol, it may affect the patient's ability to drive or operate dangerous machinery. Possible risk of seizure, especially if used with alcolhol. Other possible side effects - restlessness, agitation, constipation, change in weight, dry mouth, headache, nausea, sleeping difficulties, tremor or vomiting,
Warnings

(These are standard cautions but may not be applicable to your case)

Do not take if you are already taking bupropion to stop smoking, taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), or thioridazine. Caution is advised if you are taking other antidepressants or psychiatric medicines, certain high blood pressure medicications (e.g.,"beta-blockers"), certain heart medicines (e.g., propafenone, flecainide), decongestants, diabetes medicine, diet pills, levodopa, HIV protease inhibitors (e.g. ritonavir), quinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin), seizure medicine, theophylline, tranquilizers, tramadol, warfarin, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., acetaminophen with codeine) or products containing nicotine (e.g., patches or gum). Do not useif you have a history or eating disorders (e.g., anorexia or bulimia). Not recommended for patients who have suddenly stopped using alcohol or other drugs after a period of dependency. Not to be used by women who are breast feeding.
