Comments

Anti-depressants I have used:- Effexor (Venlafaxine HCL), Paxil (Paroxetine HCL), Zololf (Sertraline), Celexa (citalopram hydrobromide), Prozac (Fluoxetine HCL), Wellbutrin (Bupropion HCL) and Elavil (Amitriptyline HCL). I have even taken Buspar (Buspirone HCL) and Xanax (Alprazolam) which technically are anti-anxiety meds). Of this list the only one that I have had BAD adverse reactions to is Elavil. Effexor XR - I just started taking this for depression, however it has messed up my menstrual cycle. I was on Wellbutrin, but I was on the highest dose and I was still suffering waves of sadness. I have heard that Wellbutrin works well for some people, and it did help me, but it just seemed to wear off too soon. Cheryl - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

I was first diagnosed with RSD a year ago after being in a car accident five years ago. I saw a number of doctors and described my symptoms but received no diagnosis. However, after talking to some friends with the same problems I was referred to a doctor who could finally tell me what was going on.(I WAS'NT CRAZY AFTER ALL). I have been taking doxepin (for sleeping) lamictal (to calm down my nervous system) effexor (to help me keep it all together) and oxycotin (to help with pain). Well, after all that I am still having problems . My next course of action is thalidomine. I hope this will work. Any believers who are out there please pray for me. Crystal - New Jersey, USA

Hi I've been on Venlafaxine (Effexor xl) for a year now and have discovered it does me more harm than good. My memory, sleep, appetite, vision, stomach etc have been severely affected. I also suffer blackouts and severe dizzy spells. It also does nothing for my anxiety. So now I'm slowly getting off the drug.
My friend who's been on Venlafaxine for 3 years has got the same sort of symptoms as someone with Diabetes because of this. It's good for a short term, but long term it does more harm then good. Denice - Bristol, England
