| I
also take lithium, Paroxotine, and have just stopped taking Olanzapine.
I only ever have taken 1 tablet of 3.75mg of Zopiclone which gets
me off to sleep but I suffer during the day with physical symptoms
if I don't get at least 9 to 10 hours sleep. I too have had many
side effects from all of these tablets finding out which tablets
are causeing the effects can be very difficult. I have stopped takeing OLANZAPINE and I have found that my memory is better. I feel as if I have woken up. I feel fresher than I did. I am not so gripped with the inability to do things because of a gross lack of energy. I can breath better (I was out of breath all the time) and I am losing the weight gain that happened when taking that tablet. ALSO I had a Pulmonary Embolism while taking the Olanzapine. I found out recently that Olanzapine can give you a Pulmonary Embolism. When I had mine I took immediate action and went to A&E. I believe I am lucky to be alive. All I can say is our bodies react in different ways and we are given tablets that really are quite dangerous when mixed. It is trial and error to find the right combination and that thought, by the medical people, should be a very important part of prescribing medication - we need to be listened to. I complained for two years that my body was in an ill state. I know that I was in a similar state when I saw the experts at the begining but there was a vast change in my complaints as time went by. Each one was really bad and they did not listen to me and that is my objection to the experts; they all know best... well no! They do not know best. I was left on Olanzapine for another two years before I saw the write up on the internet about Drug Enduced Pulmonary Embolism. When I told my GP he was angry that the experts had not informed him and told me he would not be giving it to me again. I told him I would not be taking it again and then I told the hospital the same. It's sometimes the tablet and sometimes the mixture of tablets that are not agreeing with our systems and it would seem that there are no easy answers. Elizabeth - Durham, England |
