Description |
A cannabis based drug licenced in 2005 for pharmaceutical use in some countries for the relief of neuropathic pain. Sativex is supplied as an oral spray and has been used for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. We have also had report of some RSD patients being prescribed this medication. However, it is not fully accepted and patients in the UK may find it impossible to get a prescription for Sativex. |
Side effects(Don't be unduly alarmed. All drugs cause side effects for some patients) |
Dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness. |
Warnings(These are standard cautions but may not apply in your case) |
Users of Sativex are strongly advised not to drive or operate potentially dangerous machinery. Its use is not recommended for people with any history of psychotic illness, for pregnant women or for people under the age of 18 years. |

finally got Sativex on Jan 26th 2006, having had it prescribed on
Dec 8th 2005, after only been asking for it for four and a half
years! It really is an amazing medication. I've basically, been cover to cover of the Doctor's Bible, the BNF, seeking solutions to Daily, Excruciating Neuropathic Pain, Nausea, Retching, even Vomiting, Intense Muscle spasms, bowel/bladder issues, severe internal organ (visceral) pain, etc, etc. I tried just about everything in the BNF, often with very severe side-effects - for me, Sativex just works!!! And works very, very well. Don't get me wrong, there have been many days, while on Sativex, whne I could easily have done with taking 50+ sprays a day! I've been on it for 5 months and then my GP was removed by the Southend-on-Sea Primary Care Trust for prescribing it. They have since blacklisted Sativex so now no doctor is now allowed to prescribe it in the Southend-on-Sea area. Believe me, I have tried them all! So...
