I have very positive things to say about Temgesic (buprenorphine) In 0.2mg sublingual tabs for me it addresses the deep bone aches by at least 70%. Temgesic (buprenorphine) is largely an antagonist at low levels. This means that the brain/body does not develop a tolerance. Thus, once at a desired level you can maintain that level forever. It has a long lasting effect of at least 5 hours, no side effects just a little drowsiness. No "highs". Pam - Brisbane, Australia I take Buprenorphine (Temgesic) and it keeps my pain within bearable limits. Martin - Liverpool, England I have suffered on and off with the most terrible headaches for
probably the last 10 years and have tried a whole range of drugs.
Some of the drugs work sometimes and sometimes they don't. Recently
my Doctor asked me to try Temgesic next time I had an onset of
headaches. I was given Temgesic 0.2 mg in 1983 at first as a rheumatic patient
when nothing else could take my pains away. Using 1-4 tablets
usually evening/nights, when needed, in cold, windy and damp weather,
combined with low pressure (the west coast of Norway is like that
for 65-70 % of the yea), the pains just "glide off"
inside 25-30 minutes after intake. When the weather is good, warm
and stable, or when I go south, I can stop taking them overnight
and manage without until the weather brings the pain back . I have been taking Temgesic for the last 4 weeks, having been
on various I have been taking Temgesic now for about 2 months. I was changed to it after informing my doctor that Nubain (the previous pain control medication he had me on before) was not working anymore. My body had built up a tolerance to it and it was no longer controlling my pain. I was in a car accident a few years ago where I lost my left leg and my right femur was replace with a transfemoral rod. All this metal inside me causes severe arthritic type pain making it difficult for me to complete many of the regular daily tasks as well as sleep. With Temgesic I am able to go to work, and get through the day painless. I also sleep much better. I don´t find I am developing any tolerance for it, although it hasn´t been all that long yet. I take it in intramuscular injections when needed, usually once in the morning and once at night (100cc doses). I am happy to read the other comments on this drug, maybe I have finally found the right one! Daniel - Puerto Vallarta, Mexico I have suffered with severe ME/CFS for 6 years, and have tried
many medications, including morphine, to help with excruciating
leg muscle pain. Like others with ME, who are intolerent to many
drugs, the side-effects of medication can outweigh any benefit,
yet this has not happened with bruprenorphine (Temgesic). My pain
is at its worst in the evening reaching a crescendo in the night,
yet 30-40 minutes after taking Temgesic even entrenched pain can
be "blown out " of my muscles. It gives me a relief
I have not found with any other drug or holistic intervention.
If you have ME with severe pain, do ask your GP about Temgesic
as in the UK it is not on the small list of medications generally
prescribed for the illness, and it took me several years of trial
and error with a sympathetic GP and Pain Consultant to find it.
Jayne - Liverpool, England
