| Trazadone
was prescribed in place of my Zoloft, because it is cheaper and
helps with pain and sleep. I started out on 50mg and increased over
time to 150mg. This med does help you sleep, but it does not help
with depression. At least, it didn't in my case. I was eventually
taken off it at my request because the depression was so bad. I
would rather be in better moods than have sleep. Amanda - USA
I was also on trazadone and from my experience it really doesn't
work though I was at the max dose for my height and weight. Shannon
- Wisconsin, USA I have a very bad period of depression. I have been on 325mg of Venlafaxine and 300mg of Trazadone daily. This combination of medications has helped with the depression. However, my concentration, short term memory and sleep have suffered. Gary I took trazodone hydrochloride for about a year 150mg / day. It took several weeks for it to have any effect on sleep and longer for any effect on depression. I stopped taking them of my pwn volition as they were making me sleep about 20 hrs a day. Now I am back on them and will see what happens (I had been been off them for 6 months or more). Ari You only have to go to 'Google', search, then 'MEDILINE plus' to view the side effects and potential health risks of the medications my husband and I have been prescribed in the past, to know that they are potentially dangerous. We are planning to have children, so we are clearing our medicine cabinets of all drugs so that our home will be free from danger. I only had a limited amount of space to list the medications, so here goes: Chlorpromazine, Carbamazapine, Lithium, Rispiradone, Trazadadone to name only a few. Various 'so-called' professionals in the 'Mental Health Field' have given my husband and I ill advice in the past, and after searching for the right answers from them, we have come to the conclusion that they are no good to man or beast! Mr.&Mrs.M - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, UK I have been on Trazadone for 2 1/2 months and have gained 20 lbs. I didn't understand it until I went to the Doctor and he suggested that I stop taking Trazadone and then within 48 hours my body starting naturally getting rid of what turned out to be 16lbs of fluid (in 3 days). I will never take this drug again. Always listen to your body; it will tell you if something is wrong! DVD Trazadone helped me sleep, lowered my pain level, and after a couple of weeks improved my attitude. I was taking 50mg at bedtime. I had to stop taking it because it was causing bleeding in my intestinal tract. I have had RSD/CRPS for just over three years and was diagnosed about a year ago. I should mention that I tend to be sensitive to a lot of side effects. It has been replaced with Amitiyptyline(Elavil), which I've only been taking for a week. Trazadone is definitely worth a try. Stephanie - Johnson City, NY, USA I was taking Trazadone for 2 months due to sleep issues and was
scheduled for a colonoscopy while on this drug. I took the required
fleet phosfa soda and within 10 hours I became very ill. I was
throwing up the phosfa soda and feeling like I was going to die.
My parents took me to the the ER rather than the colon procedure
and they found out my I was peeing out salts and holding water.
(my salt count was 112 instead of the normal 145). I almost died.
The intensive care unit at the University of Penn Hospital said
I should not take Trazadone any longer because it can cause your
salts to drop, especially when interacting with other drugs/procedures.
I was also told Paxil, and other drugs could cause the same problem.
