RSD Alert Newsletter - October 2001 |
|
As the first week of November approaches and all sorts of initiatives are being launched for RSD Awareness Week by people I am proud to call friends. Even this much focus won't change the world overnight, but it must raise awareness by a few notches. Keep at it! The latest addition to RSD Alert brings together information contributed over several months from around the world. It is called "Treatments on RSD Alert". The focus is on non-drug treatments for RSD/CRPS and includes brief descriptions and not-so-brief comments from people with real life experience of these therapies. RSD Alert collates information so we can take an active role in our own treatment - but you should always seek advice from a qualified medical practitioner. Many thanks to the healthcare professionals who have taken an interest in RSD Alert and sent information and messages of encouragement. "Drugs on RSD Alert" was launched earlier in the year and now draws a large audience. Thanks for sending in extra information and comment. Please keep it coming. Earlier this year, Prof. Patrick Wall brought out a brilliant book titled "Pain - the Science of Suffering". Pain is not an obvious subject for a 'popularising' book, but I'm grateful that he wrote it. See our Book Review. I value the cooperation between a growing community of
RSD websites and Support Groups. Some groups are forming closer
links so we can compare notes, encourage each other and broaden
our scope for gathering information. RSD Alert is pleased to work
with any group or resource that shares our aims, namely - Best wishes Derrick Phillips |
