Full body RSD - but still fighting

Hi My Name is Howard Runyon and I have full body RSD. I was hurt on my job 4 years ago. I fell down a hill and broke my ankle and leg bone. From there I had plates and screws put in and then the RSD started. It has not stopped spreading and has spread to my whole body including internally. I had a very bad heart attack where a blood clot had developed in my foot and leg and broke lose and hit my lungs and heart. My bladder is dead; I have it in my bowels, chest wall, legs and both arms and mouth. The first doctor that I saw did not believe in RSD and when I did get to see a good doctor It was too late It had started spreading fast and the first three months were hell for me I had over 6 spinal operations and over 50 nerve blocks and none of the operations and blocks help. I have a SCS and a pain pump implant that helps some but I am still in pain; I am also crippled from the waist down. I have super sensitivity from the knee down and I cannot have anyone or any thing touch my legs. I have also bleeding ulcers on both my legs that are very painful and my legs get infected all the time - my immune system is no good anymore, so I can't fight off anything. My wife is my caregiver and she is wonderful to me. She does all the research on RSD and she is even telling the doctors what she has learned and she spreads the word very well. We were living in North Carolina USA and the whether up there was getting to bad for me so my doctor recommended us to move to warmer climate, which we are glad we did. The warm climate has helped a lot. I am still in pain but I was sent to see two good doctors and they are doing all they can for me to let me become more pain free. The most important thing is that I was lucky to have a doctor with a wound care center and he has Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers and he put me in for 60 visits; now my legs are completely healed from the bleeding ulcer. My legs are still in pain most of the time but at least I do not have the bleeding ulcers to deal with. I still have to be careful not to bump my legs or have someone mishandle me or they will start breaking out again, but I keep them well protected. Also I will be starting massage therapy on my arms; I have been having bad flare ups in my left arm and the doctors are doing all that can be done. If you like some more info on my treatments of the HBO I will be glad to help in anyway, I read the story of the lady that was in a wheel chair like me and after the treatments got up and walk again, Well the doctor are saying that I most likely will not be able to walk again my bones and muscles have wasted away already on my legs and in my hips, so I have 3 wheel chairs that I use for different things and activities, Please if I can help in any way please let me know. My wife and I live in Tampa Florida USA and she is the one to email and ask the questions to. She does all the computer work… I tell her how I am doing from one day to the next and she writes and notes all. It has been a long 4 years but we are not giving up and we are not giving in to the Monster of RSD.

Howard's wife Sheila supplied these photos, which show how his skin has ulcerated and broken up. This has been explained as a 'break down where the nerve endings are so on fire and they just break through the skin and his legs lose fluids'. However, Sheila reports that 'they are still healed at this time thanks to the oxygen chamber treatments.
