Cognitive Therapy

Description
A form of psychotherapy in which patients are encouraged to reassess the way they see themselves and the world. Used the treat depression, but also as a method of pain management.
Notes

The involvement of a psychologist may seem worrying, or even insulting; but the strain of living with chronic pain can be isolating and distressing and many patients obtain benefit from appropriate support.

Comments

I've done Cognitive Therapy and found it to be just common sense in the main. And as for planning your day out.....well....it seems to me to be something that automatically happens as you aren't able to do everything at once like you used to. It did teach me that it was OK to be depressed as long as it was equal to what was going on in my life at the time i.e. pain, loneliness etc. The lady taking me was lovely and did make sense. I went for about 5 weeks but ended up saying, hey I have come to grips with this what else can we do? Wendy - Wellington, New Zealand
